Drew's 1st Soccer game

Drew just started playing Rookie Soccer at the YMCA and his first game was yesterday. His team is named the Grasshoppers. None of the kids knew each other (and they are 3/4 yrs old) so there wasn't much sharing going on. Drew scored the 1st and 3rd goals and assisted with the 2nd goal for a game win of 5 to 2. One other little boy and Drew were a bit more forceful and focused than the others so they had to keep coming out of the 20 minute game to let the others have a chance. Maybe having a professional soccer player as a cousin helped! All the kids were in awe of the Referee who was great. It was pretty cute.

The Ref was explaining the "rules" and teaching the kids to say the YMCA pledge before the game and at the end taught them how to shake hands with the other team.

Notice all the kids bunched up down at one end. This was just after Drew's first goal. I was too busy being a soccer mom and yelling to have the camera ready for his shot.
